| About Database |
| Biogas is a suitable technology for providing alternative and additional sources of energy, especially for rural areas of developing countries. In response to the interest in biogas energy systems, shown by a number of researchers, governmental and non governmental organizations, a database BIP (Biogas Information Portal) has been developed at the department of environmental sciences in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University so that it might form a basis for concerning the direction of future biogas research. This database has recognized the need to look at the biogas technology in an integrated manner to reap the multiple benefits, which this technology offers. |
Objectives |
Collection of biogas literature from different agencies |
Sorting the literature under various Modules |
Development of prototype model of the database. |
Bring out the Publication with classified information on biogas research in India |
Receiving feedback and construction and updating the web site. |
Future Thrust |
| The overall purpose of this database is to explore the bio-gas potential world wide. Biogas production is considered one of the viable economic activities. This enterprise produces commercial output that generates substantial revenue to farmers. It also produces some externalities (e.g. manure), that if managed properly, could also result in another vial economic activity, such as bio-mass for energy. The foremost objectives are to collect the relevant basic technical and economic data of biogas technology, and to use that data and other information for planning commercial production of biogas. |
